Burning For A Fight | Cloud and Faris
It seemed like all the fight had gone out of the blonde warrior. He stared at the ground and seemed to be berating himself for letting Faris get in the blow that knocked him over.
But something shifted in his eyes as soon as Faris taunted him, and that was the only warning Faris got before the other soldier’s grip on his sword tightened.
“Here’s that fire you want.”
The blonde swung his sword outward in a wide arc and fire seemed to burst from all directions. Faris barely had time to put the Brave Blade in front of her to block a direct hit. The blonde’s giant sword hit her with such force that she was sent flying backwards.
She skidded to a halt in the sand, landing in a somewhat crumpled position. As she brought herself up to her feet again, she looked around in wonder. There was fire everywhere. It spread out over the beach in a wide wave, heating up the atmosphere. Faris had already been sweating before but the heat wave brought on by the attack only made it worse.
She looked over to the other; he had lowered his sword and was standing there, seemingly amazed by himself. On top of that, he seemed just as exhausted by their fight as Faris. She smirked and walked over to him, extending her hand as she went.
“That was the attack you were working on before wasn’t it?” she said as she finally reached him, hand still held out, “Don’t know about you but that fight wiped me out. Truce?”
Cloud didn’t know what was going on, the want to fight vanished from both it seemed. A minute ago he was fighting me with all his strength and how he’s asking for a truce?, he asked himself with a confused face. He looked at the other’s hand and then back at his face. Deep inside Cloud didn’t yet trust the other, he felt unsafe about this approach, but then he did notice that the other did seem tired. There really is no point in continuing this fight, he is tired and that last spell really took a lot out of me, Cloud said to himself while looking away from the stranger. “Fine…” Cloud answered without shaking the warrior’s hand trying to be cautious.
He then showed his back to the other and took a few steps before stopping and looking to the side. “Why didn’t you stop before?” he asked a bit confused. Cloud knew it wasn’t the Flamestrike Blitz that made the warrior choose to make a truce, it didn’t look like it harmed him that much. He himself could continue to fight, but not at the same level of strength as before. He then looked ahead and paid no mind to his previous thought. “Never mind, it’s over now, and yes that was the attack I was trying to learn” he answered.
Cloud noticed some of the flames were still around and so he cast Water aiming at the sky. The spell was able to extinguish them and bring down the heat around them a little. Cloud just walked on the sand and sat down. “A commando I am assuming, correct me if I’m wrong” Cloud said remembering the power this stranger had, the strength definitely belonged to a commando. Cloud was able to witness the incredible power of a commando when he saw Squall take down one of the Automata on his own.
He then sighed while looking at the sea towards the horizon. There have been a lot of strong people in the army lately, this one’s no different, that’s a good thing I suppose, Cloud said to himself, he had now way of knowing if he was getting stronger at all. There were many different possibilities, he could be making no progress at all when training, he could just be weak, or everyone has been training as hard as him and that is why he sees no difference. Is everyone at the same level as me………. or higher?, he asked himself.
Cloud then remembered that he wasn’t alone, “The name is Cloud” he told the stranger while looking back at him. He found no point in ignoring the other’s presence, he didn’t want to start another fight right after things have calmed down.
